The Federal Member for Dickson Peter Dutton has congratulated the Probus Club of Albany Creek on their twenty year anniversary.
The local organisation started from humble beginnings growing from a monthly meeting in 1998 to branching out to holidays, special interests and membership constantly growing.
Since its inception the Albany Creek Probus Club has gone from strength to strength, boasting over forty members in the first ten weeks and expanding ever since.
Mr Dutton had the pleasure of joining Probus members at the Tavernetta Reception Lounge to celebrate the fun, camaraderie and mateship of the last twenty years.
Probus has three principles: Friendship, Fellowship and Fun, which underpin the club and its longevity is demonstrated by sixteen foundations members being active to date.
The inaugural Outings Coordinator, Don McDermott is still busy organising trips such as getaways to Tasmania to river cruises for members to enjoy.
Mr Dutton said the Probus Club of Albany Creek plays an important role in our community, providing fellowship, developing lifelong friendships with members supporting each other through good and bad times.
“Organisations such as Probus, provide an important outlet to help people remain connected, learn new skills and have new experiences,” Mr Dutton said.
The club meets on the first Thursday of the month at 10am in the Tavernetta Function Centre, 144 Dorville Road, Carseldine. Any semi – retirees or retirees in the local area are encouraged to attend.
