I am honoured to represent the Australian Government at this year’s Anzac Day commemorations in Turkey from 24-25 April.
I will represent Australia at a number of memorial services and deliver the commemorative address at the Anzac Day Dawn Service and the Australian Memorial Service at Lone Pine.
I look forward to paying my deep respects and upholding the memory of the 48,000 Allied soldiers, including the 8,700 Australians and 2,700 New Zealanders, and close to 87,000 troops of the Ottoman Empire that lost their lives at Gallipoli.
The sacrifice of our diggers at Gallipoli helped make Australia what it is today and more than 100 years on we rightly continue to honour them.
I look forward to joining the many Australians and New Zealanders who have made the journey to the Gallipoli peninsula and thank the Turkish Government for their continued support to commemorate this important day for Australia.
