The Moreton Bay South region is fighting back against illicit drug dealers with the Pine Rivers Crime Stoppers branch launching a local Dob in a Dealer campaign in Petrie today.
The launch is one of hundreds happening around the country since the Federal Government announced funding for the 2018-19 nationwide Dob in a Dealer campaign in July 2018.
Federal Member for Dickson Peter Dutton has thrown his support behind the campaign to help stop the scourge of harmful, illicit drugs in our community.
“Just a few months ago, I launched the national Dob in a Dealer campaign to encourage communities to get together and fight back against drug dealers seeking to profit from causing harm,” Mr Dutton said.
“Since then we’ve seen hundreds of communities across the country join the campaign and I am proud that our community is one of them.
“The Pine Rivers Dob in a Dealer campaign will deprive criminals of illicitly obtained assets and channel this money back into our community to reduce the impact of crime.”
Previous Dob in a Dealer campaigns have been very effective and in 2016 in Queensland alone, Crime Stoppers received more than 17,000 drug-related information reports, including 5200 amphetamine-related reports. This lead to more than 600 arrests and the seizure of more than $1 million worth of drugs.
If you have information about someone who is manufacturing or dealing drugs you can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestoppers.com.au. You can remain anonymous.
