The 2019 Dickson Seniors’ Expo was all about promoting health and wellbeing for seniors with over 60 local service providers and thousands of local seniors attending.
The Guest speaker at the Expo was local legend and Samford TerryWhite Chemmart Owner Karen Brown. Under Karen’s leadership, TerryWhite Samford was awarded the prestigious TerryWhite Chemmart of the year award for 2018.
Karen is a former QLD Firebirds netball player, and spoke of her efforts to improve health for people across the region. The TerryWhite Samford team recently did the Kokoda Track to raise funds and awareness for Ovarian Cancer Australia.
The Member for Dickson Peter Dutton said he hoped this year’s expo would help people live longer and healthier lives.
“With the shocking flu season we’ve had claiming a number of lives, I really wanted to showcase local health and ageing service providers and the work they do to help seniors in our community,” Mr Dutton Said.
“We are really blessed to have such a fantastic range of services right here in our own backyard and it is my hope that by connecting seniors’ and service providers through the Dickson Seniors’ Expo, people in our area will live longer, happier and healthier lives.”
The Dickson Senior’s Council Chair Phil Symonds spoke about all the hard work the committee had done to organise this year’s expo.
“We have been working for almost 12 months now to organise this year’s expo and for us volunteers, it is a big effort,” Mr Symonds said.
“All the hard work is worth it though when you see how it comes together at the event and all the people we help.”
