Please support this fantastic event in our local community!
In response to the bushfires in southern states, so many locals in our community are desperate to help and stand alongside Australians who are doing it tough right now.
Helping others when their backs are against the wall is what we do best – and we see it every day in our community.
This is the time to really pull together to show our support and make a genuine difference.
The Samford and Surrounds Bushfire Appeal is now underway, with a family fundraising event being held 4-7pm this Saturday 11 January in John Scott Park – we need you there!
Along with bands, BBQ and food stalls, sideshow alley rides and more, there will be a 5pm Vigil with a minute’s silence for lives lost, and a chance to reflect on our fortunate situation here in Dickson.
All proceeds of the Event will be donated to Rural Aid for farmers who were already wiped out by drought but are now on their knees after fire damage, along with wildlife rescue group, WIRES, who are coordinating support for vets and carers.
Everything that you will see, hear and buy on the day has been very kindly donated by local businesses and the Showmen’s Guild of Queensland – but we need people power and your strong community support!
Please bring a rug or chairs, some spare change, and enjoy a lovely afternoon catching up with friends for a truly great cause!
You’ll also see a range of other fundraising activities happening around Samford this weekend that you can support – charity sporting matches, bootcamps, trail runs, bake sales, carwash and pooch washing and lots of others that we’re learning about each day from amazing locals finding ways to help others.
If you are unable to attend Saturday’s event, or other activities, please consider joining the collective Samford community effort by donating via the Samford and Surrounds Bushfire Appeal page fundraising effort for the Red Cross Appeal.
Thank you in advance for your strong support.
