Over 4,000 people responded to the community consultation process and more than two thirds backed Option 1, to use the existing road alignment.
Thanks to this strong community support, I have been able to secure an additional $25 million funding boost from the Morrison Government for this vital safety and congestion-busting project.
The upgrade will improve safety, vehicle carrying capacity with a new four-lane bridge over the North Pine River, and most importantly will flood-proof the crossing.
The funding boost will allow Moreton Bay Regional Council to start early works in March 2022.
The additional funding is part of the Morrison Government’s 2021-22 Federal Budget, which is focused on creating more jobs as our country, and local area, continues to recover from COVID-19.
Importantly, more Australians have a job now than before the pandemic hit, and the Youngs Crossing upgrade will create a further 70 direct jobs.
