A re-elected Morrison Government will provide financial support to build a new school hall at Lawnton State School.
Federal Member for Dickson Peter Dutton said the Coalition would commit $2.5 million for the project.
“Communities in the Dickson electorate have grown rapidly in recent years and that means growing student populations in our schools,” Mr Dutton said.
“That’s definitely the case at Lawnton State School where enrolments have doubled. A new purpose-built school hall will accommodate that growth and be a great asset for the school community as a whole.
“Lawnton school has great leaders and staff and they have fought really hard for their kids, I’m committing a returned Morrison Government to getting a new hall built.
“The Morrison Government has got the national budget back in the black, we’re building a stronger economy and that means we can afford to pay for projects like this,” Mr Dutton said.
The Coalition is providing record funding for all 22 public schools in Dickson and over the next decade funding will increase by around 50 per cent per government school student in Dickson.
Mr Dutton has also committed $1.75 million for a major extension of the hall at Patrick’s Road State School in Arana Hills.
Earlier this year the Coalition provided $4.5 million to partner with the AEIOU foundation to build a new facility for kids with autism at Bald Hills.
