Local organisation, East Coast Apprenticeships, has won the excellence in supporting Veteran Employment Award at the third annual Prime Minister’s Veterans’ Employment Awards, recognising their ongoing support for veteran employment.
Member for Dickson, Peter Dutton, congratulated the East Coast Apprenticeships for recognising the value and benefit of employing ex-service men and women, and making a concerted effort to promote their unique skills and experience.
“Congratulations to Alan Sparks and the entire team at East Coast Apprenticeships in Strathpine on winning the Veterans Employment Award.
“The Defence Trade Program at East Coast Apprenticeships has helped many local veterans re-train and learn a new trade and it is fantastic to see them recognised for their efforts.
“The extensive range of skills, abilities, behaviours and attributes veterans gain makes them an asset to any workplace and it’s great to see organisations in our local area recognising this and promoting it as part of their workplace culture.”
The Veterans’ Employment Awards celebrate the achievements and valuable skills of our veterans and businesses that have gone above and beyond to assist them.
There were a record 129 nominations for the 2020 Awards, the highest in the Awards’ three year history. Finalists for the 2020 Awards were selected from across the country, from large, medium and small organisations in a range of industries and professions.
The Awards are part of the Prime Minister’s Veterans’ Employment Program, which brings together a range of resources and drives initiatives for veteran job seekers and employers.
