An elected Dutton Coalition Government will provide $250,000 to the Box Hill Lunar New Year Festival to ensure this iconic cultural event continues for the next five years.
This important annual event attracts thousands of attendees, bringing the community together while supporting local businesses.
The Leader of the Opposition, the Hon Peter Dutton MP, made the commitment in a visit to the Box Hill Lunar New Year Festival celebrations today in Melbourne.
Mr Dutton said “the Box Hill Lunar New Year Festival is an iconic celebration that is testimony to the achievement of modern Australia and a celebration of Lunar New Year – a time of renewal, family, and hope,”
“Festivals like this don’t happen without significant effort and cost and that’s why today, I am pleased to confirm that a Dutton Coalition Government will provide this festival with the certainty it needs to continue to celebrate our cultural successes and our community engagement,” Mr Dutton said.
Shadow Minister for Home Affairs, Senator James Paterson, said “the Coalition’s commitment will help ensure this important event can continues for years to come. The Lunar New Year festival embodies the spirit of Australian community, bringing people together to celebrate diverse cultures and traditions on this significant date.”
