An elected Dutton Coalition Government will commit $15,000 from a revitalised Safer Communities Fund (SCF) to install security cameras in Quail Street, St Helens supporting local businesses and reducing anti-social activities in the area.
The Leader of the Opposition, the Hon Peter Dutton MP, said, “This funding will make a real difference for business owners and residents in Lyons. By investing in security measures like these cameras, we are fostering a safer and more secure environment while supporting the local economy.
“Part of the plan to get Australia Back on Track is about keeping Australia safe – safe for families, safe for businesses, and safe for communities,” Mr Dutton said.
“With Susie Bower as the local Liberal Party Candidate for Lyons, the electorate has a committed leader who will take real action to strengthen the community, enhance security, and deliver effective solutions to tackle crime.”
Shadow Minister for Home Affairs and Cyber Security, Senator James Paterson, said, “Ensuring community safety is a priority for the Coalition. These cameras will not only help deter crime and anti-social behaviour but also give local residents and businesses greater peace of mind.”
“Under a Dutton Coalition Government, we will ensure communities in electorates like Lyons are stronger, more secure, and better supported to tackle crime,” Senator Paterson said.
The Liberal Party Candidate for Lyons, Susie Bower, said, “This funding is a practical response to concerns I’ve heard from the local community. The cameras will provide 24/7 surveillance and act as a strong deterrent, ensuring Quail Street remains a safe and welcoming place for residents and visitors alike.”
“Supporting local businesses and improving safety are key parts of our plan for Lyons. Initiatives like this help build stronger, safer communities,” Ms Bower said.
The revitalised SCF will build on the programme established by the previous Coalition Government, delivering grant funding to councils, schools, and local organisations to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, enhance security around community spaces, and promote social cohesion.
A Dutton Coalition Government will get Australia back on track by continuing to prioritise initiatives that make Australian communities safer and more secure.
