Health ‘reform’ hoax

6 October 2011 On Monday this week Nicola Roxon stood in Hobart telling Tasmanians that the Gillard Government’s “historic national health reform” was delivering them better access to hospitals, more services and more beds.

Each day since then it’s been revealed the Labor-Greens Alliance Government in Tasmania is closing hospital beds across the state.

Wards are closing, beds are closing, operating theatres are closing, jobs are being shed and elective surgery is being put off.

That is the current state of Labor health ‘reform’ in Tasmania – 115 beds to go – 25 at Royal Hobart, 64 at Launceston General, two wards at North-West Regional Hospital.

Nicola Roxon told Australians that the her third attempt at an “historic” health deal would produce better outcomes in our hospitals –
·         Shorter waiting lists
·         Less waiting time in emergency
·         More beds
·         More doctors
·         More nurses
In Tasmania today Minister Roxon’s words are nothing more than a cruel hoax on present and future patients of the state health system.
