Salvation Army – Red Shield Appeal 2010
On 7 May 2010, as Chairman of the Pine Rivers District Red Shield Appeal, I was very pleased to launch the 2010 Red Shield Appeal for our local area.
The Red Shield Appeal doorknock assists our local Salvation Army with fundraising to continue its great work, including providing crisis accommodation, support for families in need, employment services, addiction recovery support, emergency services, rural chaplaincy, aged care, phone counselling services and much more.
The Red Shield Appeal goal for Pine Rivers for 2010 is $64,000.00. In previous years, our Pine Rivers area has raised more than most other areas, and we are hoping to continue this strong performance with the support of local residents such as yourself.
Former Broncos star Shane Webcke, who attended our official breakfast launch at Club Pine Rivers in Lawnton, praised the work of the Salvation Army. He revealed that he is a long time financial contributor to “the Salvos” and he urged local residents to “support the great work they do.”
Our official breakfast launch raised $9,500.00 to kick-start the appeal, which was a great start towards achieving our fundraising goal in Pine Rivers.
The Red Shield Appeal doorknock will be conducted on Saturday 29 May and Sunday 30 May this year. I encourage you to lend your support by volunteering to collect or by giving generously to the collectors who doorknock in your area.
