The Hon Peter Dutton MP on Friday officially launched the 2015 Pine Rivers Red Shield Appeal, at a breakfast launch at Club Pine Rivers in Bray Park. Mr Dutton has served for many years as the Chairman of the Pine Rivers Red Shield Appeal.
The Launch heard from keynote speaker Hannah Stead. Hannah spoke of how the Salvation Army’s Youth Outreach Service (YOS) helped her to get her life back on track, following tragic experiences with domestic violence and youth homelessness.
“Hannah’s story is inspiring, and an example of the positive work the Salvation Army does in our community, each and every day,” Mr Dutton said.
“It’s important that we support the Salvos, so they can support those most in need,” he added.
The Launch was sponsored by Club Pine Rivers, and attended by many local business and community leaders. Through a charity auction and through individual donations, the breakfast provided a vital kick start to the appeal, raising $16,735.
“I encourage locals to get in touch with the Salvation Army and to get involved in this year’s Red Shield Appeal.
The Salvation Army helps more than a million Australians every year, and any support we can give back truly makes a difference,” Mr Dutton said.
The Red Shield Appeal door knock will take place over the weekend of the 30th and 31st of May.
