Peter Dutton, Federal Member for Dickson and Shadow Minister for Health and Ageing, hosted an afternoon tea for the Youth4Nepal team earlier this week.
The team of six local teenagers recently returned from a ten-day trip to Nepal, where they volunteered in orphanages and schools, as well as visiting the home of Mother Theresa.
They have returned inspired by the stories of the local people, and will be continuing to fundraise and support the places they visited during their trip.
Mr Dutton congratulated the team and their families for supporting such a great cause, and encouraged them to continue raising money for their chosen organisations.
“I was lucky enough to support the team on their trip to Nepal, and it is great to hear they will be continuing to support the people less fortunate than ourselves,” Mr Dutton said.
Kate Tomsett is currently organising a free-dress day at her school, and the money raised from that will go to the orphanage in Nepal.
Mr Dutton wished the team every success in their future endeavours.
“They will go on to achieve great things,” Mr Dutton said.
