24 January - Federal Member for Dickson, Peter Dutton, has expressed his concern at the newest figures which indicate that the cost of living has increased significantly under the Rudd/Gillard Government. Notably, electricity has increased 89.3% since the Labor was elected in 2007, and 41.3% since Julia Gillard became the Prime Minister.
Mr Dutton said that Dickson residents should not have to suffer under this Government and its bad choices any longer.
“Electricity has increased 15.2% since the introduction of the Carbon Tax. This is an unnecessary increase on already struggling residents” Mr Dutton said.
Not only has electricity increased, people are paying more for the essential material and services our community needs. The costs for Education and Medical and Hospital Services have each risen by over 30% since 2007, Mr Dutton highlighted.
“This is not acceptable. The costs just keep increasing, and nothing is being done to ease the burden on residents” Mr Dutton said.
He would like to reassure the Dickson electorate that the Coalition will deliver a strong and prosperous economy and a safe and secure Australia.
