4 November 2010 Health Minister Nicola Roxon should stop trying to blackmail and bully the people of Western Australia to force the state’s agreement to the so-called Rudd-Gillard health ‘reforms’.
Ms Roxon was again today hinting that the west’s hospitals and patients will miss out on hundreds of millions of dollars if the Barnett Government continues to refuse to handover its GST revenues in the name of so-called health ‘reform’.
The Minister told ABC Radio that “there’s $350 million….available if the West Australian Government signs on to reforms…there’s another $1.6 billion if Mr Barnett signs up to this deal” and yesterday reportedly told a business gathering that the state ‘might miss out on its fair share’ of funding.
Shadow Health Minister Peter Dutton said it was time for the Minister to stop playing her shabby games in health.
“It is clear that the Rudd-Roxon-Gillard ‘reforms’ are nowhere near settled. Serious reservations about them have been expressed within the health bureaucracies in Victoria and New South Wales with one leaked document showing Victorian officials considered there was no detail to Federal Labor’s plans.”
“It’s about time this Minister actually got on and did her job rather than continue to peddle the discredited Kevin Rudd’s questionable health plans.”
“Minister Roxon should pass on the health funding intended for Western Australia.”
“Even her own Labor Party in WA does not think the state should sign up to the Rudd-Gillard pea-and-thimble trick of handing over state GST revenue so the Federal Government can then claim to fund 60% of public hospital costs.”
